During his first term in 0ffice Trump rolled back hundreds of environmental protections and made America the first nation to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement,
Deep in the pockets of the oil industry, Trump is totally bereft of any understanding of the catastrophic environmental and economic damage that Climate Change will have on the planet……either that or he doesn’t care
The facts are clear – between 2001 and 2021 the world lost 437 million hectares of tree cover – 16% of which was primary forest.
Conservation researcher, Steven Bachman said figures were shocking, with a knock-on effect for the many plants and animals that depend on trees.
Researchers also estimate global economic losses from fossil fuel air pollution at $2.9 trillion each year [and growing]…or approximately 3.3% of global GDP. In the United States alone, air pollution from burning fossil fuels is linked to an estimated 230,000 deaths and $600 billion in economic losses annually.
So now we face Trump’s second term as President of the United States and his most obvious traits have not changed. He is self-absorbed, narcissistic and a pathological liar. He is a man who has ‘bamboozled’ millions of people into believing that he actually cares about them.
So, it is with zero surprise that ‘Donald’ has informed the world that oil and gas executive, Chris Wright, has been chosen to lead the US Energy Department. Wright is the founder and CEO of Liberty Energy, which serves companies extracting oil and gas from shale fields in a process known as fracking.
In a video posted to his Linkedin last year, he said. “There is no climate crisis and we’re not in the midst of an energy transition either.”
As the old saying goes – ‘They really couldn’t give a shit.”
