Why is it impossible for Homo Sapiens to live in peace ?
If we look at the statistics for the 20th century alone – 15 to 22 million people died in World War 1 and more than 20 million were injured.
What never seems to be quoted is the environmental damage and death of other species due to war. It is estimated that 8 million horses, mules and donkeys died in World War 1
World War 11 was the deadliest conflict in human history, with estimates of total fatalities ranging from 50 million to 85 million people, including both military and civilian deaths. The majority of these deaths were civilians, particularly in the Soviet Union and China
The Nazi regime’s systematic extermination programme resulted in 11 million deaths, including 6 million Jews
According to the Imperial War Museum ‘conflict took place in every year of the 20th century; the world was free from the violence caused by war for only very short periods of time. It has been estimated that 187 million people died as a result of war from 1900 to the present. The actual figure is likely to be much higher.’
