Melissa Hortman, a Minnesota state representative Democrat and her husband were shot dead. The same night Democrat state senator John Hoffman, 60, and his wife were targeted and shot and wounded in a similar attack at their home.
The shooter was Vance Boelter.
Acting US Attorney Joseph Thompson stated that Boelter had a hit list of 45 Minnesota state and federal elected officials — all Democrats — and had researched them and their families .It is clear that Boelter had a plan to conduct a killing spree.
US Attorney Joseph H Thompson said “this was a political assassination” and called the deadly event “a chilling attack on our democracy”
Who was Vance Boelter? – in a nutshell, he found Jesus as a teenager, he liked Donald Trump and Infowars and hated abortion. One of his jobs in his varied career was picking up bodies for local funeral homes. Sometimes he travelled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he would preach in a local church about Christian joy and railed against LGBTQ+ rights.
Before he carried out the shootings he texted his family – ‘Dad went to war last night’
In response to the shootings the Utah Republican senator Mike Lee , wrote on his personal X account, “This is what happens when Marxists don’t get their way.”
